Explanation of Reigns
Miss Rodeo New Mexico Elect wins her title at the annual Miss Rodeo New Mexico Pageant. However, she is a "Lady-in-Waiting" until January of the following year when she assumes the title. She will reign from January through December and compete in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant (MRAP) in Las Vegas, Nevada. As MRNM-Elect, she is expected to attend the MRAP that same year to attend the Rodeo Royalty Seminar and to observe the Pageant to know what to prepare for. This is a definite advantage for her.

The Miss Rodeo New Mexico Teen, Princess and Little Miss each wins her title at the annual MRNM Pageant and begins her reign at the Coronation, which is the culmination of the Pageant. Her reign ends the following year at the Coronation when the new title holders are named .

Reigning Miss Rodeo New Mexico
Kelly Horton
Placitas, NM

My journey towards becoming your 2010 Miss Rodeo New Mexico Elect began at the age of ten years old when I entered my first rodeo queen competition, now eleven years later I am honored and ready to represent the sport that I hold dearest, and the diverse people from this enchanted state!  As a recent graduate of New Mexico State University with a B.S. in Agriculture, I have the time necessary to dedicate myself to this title 100% and afterward I plan to enroll in a program to study equine reproduction. A native of New Mexico, I grew up participating in 4-H projects, horseshows, rodeos, and leadership activities, all contributing to my passion for the western way of life.  I am so grateful to be a part of the traditions and heritage that I love so dearly!

Kaycee McDaniel

2011 Miss Rodeo New Mexico Elect
Kaycee McDaniel
Lovington

Kaycee McDaniel is the 21 year-old daughter of Gary and Denise McDaniel of Lovington.  She has one younger brother Cooper.  Kaycee is currently a senior at New Mexico State University where she is obtaining a Bachelor's of Science in animal science.  Her future educational goals are to attend University of New Mexico to receive her PharmD degree.
As a native of New Mexico and Lea County, the "Home of Champions", Kaycee has grown up in a place rich with western culture and rodeo tradition.  Along with this Kaycee's involvement in FFA, 4-H, and horseshowing has given her a deep love of the western way of life.  This has allowed her to truly appreciate not only the morals and values that this lifestyle represents, but more importantly have a desire to share these with others.  Being selected as Miss Rodeo New Mexico is an accomplishment of a life long dream, Kaycee says, "I am honored to represent an amazing group of diverse people that call The Land of Enchantment home, as well as a sport that truly exemplifies a way of life.  Additionally, I am looking  forward to serving professional rodeo as the New Mexico's First Lady of Rodeo."

Erin Arko

Miss Rodeo New Mexico Teen
Erin Christina Arko
Eagle Nest

Hello, I am Erin Christina Arko I live on a small farm located in northeastern New Mexico where the prairies meet the mountains. I am the 18 year old daughter of Leo and Barbara Arko, and recently graduated from Cimarron High. I have one older brother, Jake. I am a active member of the 4-H Origination, and will soon complete my 14th year in the program. I have held the title of Colfax County Outstanding 4-H Member on four occasions. Thanksgiving of 2009, myself and other 4-H members attended the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia as the New Mexico Delegation. I have participated in hundreds of hours of community service and was recognized for this accomplishment at graduation. I was a member of the varsity basketball team for four years, three of which our team went on to State. Participating in horse, livestock, or Queen’s Clinics is one of my favorite pastimes. Clinics are very informative and an excellent way to make new friends and meet with others having the same interests as yourself. This fall I start a new chapter in my life, I will attend New Mexico State University majoring in animal science with an emphases on equine studies.

Katie Creager

Miss Rodeo New Mexico Princess
Katie Creager
Hobbs

I am the 14 year old daughter of Greg and Mary Creager. I have a younger brother, Dillon, who is 11. I will be a freshman this fall. I am the goalkeeper for the JV soccer team at Hobbs High School. I hope to make the varsity team this year so I may begin my journey toward earning a possible college scholarship. My life’s ambition is to graduate from college through a rodeo or soccer scholarship, earning degrees in animal science and agricultural business. I would then like to pursue a possible career in horse training. I break and I train 2-3 year olds for the futurity and versatility classes at our Lea County fair horse show with my parents’ guidance. I also participate in other events such as English jumping, western horsemanship, and reining. My family lives on a horse ranch north of Hobbs where we all work hard together to get chores done and make the operation work. We stand 3 stallions, and have a brood mare band. My dad trains racehorses and my mom is an equine veterinarian. We also have chickens and goats which we will show at the county fair. I recently got my mare (Electric Sign) back from my cousin who trained her for barrel racing, pole bending, and roping. I am anxious to compete on her. I am proud to come from a Christian family with high morals. God is a huge part of my life. I believe that with God, all things are possible.

Teghann Rose Gonzales

Little Miss Rodeo New Mexico
Teghann Rose Gonzales
Socorro

I try to be creative and fun on a daily basis. I tend to be a natural drama queen which can get me into trouble sometimes, but I always have the best of intentions. My horses are my life. As far back as I can remember, all I wanted to do is ride. Going to rodeos gives me a chance to be competitive and spend time with my horses. Who could ask for more? The best moments in the world are the seconds before the gate opens and as soon as it is over, I’m ready to go again. My Parents say I was “born talking” and I tend to have an opinion one way or another which can also get me into trouble at times. Overall, I think I am an energetic and bubbly 10 year old. My love and passion for my family, friends, and animals is always first and if there is anymore time left in the day, I am all about the fun.
